About Miss Mississippi Valley

Selma’s community service initiative, Wild for Wildlife, is inspired by her belief that nature is both a sanctuary for people and a vital resource that must be protected. Through this initiative, she has participated in roadside cleanups, taught children about caring for the environment, supported local farms and markets, volunteered with animal shelters, and expanded her knowledge through college-level environmental biology coursework. Each of these experiences has strengthened her commitment to conservation and inspired her to encourage others to protect the beauty and peace of the natural world.

Selma is a junior at Oklahoma City University, where she studies Entertainment Business and Dance with a minor in Stage Management. She also works in the costume shop for the Star Dance Company. After completing her studies, she hopes to perform in the ensembles of national tours or pursue a career in stage management.

When she isn’t busy with schoolwork, Selma enjoys cooking, reading, sewing, and listening to music of all kinds, from rock to classical. She hopes to inspire in others the same appreciation for nature that has given her joy and sanctuary throughout her life.
